Upgrading from a revision of soSIMPLE Calendar 3.x another revision of 4.x

To import your existing calendar settings:

  1. Open soSIMPLE Calendar Settings on your desktop
  2. Click the gear icon to bring up the settings window.
  3. Click “Import file”
  4. Click “Browse file” to select your existing soSIMPLE Calendar Settings file or locate the existing file being hosted FileMaker Server
  5. Follow the prompts.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Any calendar or setting that is marked with a LOCK icon will NOT be imported in the your new settings file.  This is because the upgrades frequently include new features or updates in these default settings. If you’ve altered these settings for your own use, here’s how we recommend saving them:
    1. Before importing, go to your existing Calendar Settings file and duplicate the settings that have changed:
      1. Select your calendar.
      2. Click “Edit” next to Data Source. If you’ve made changes to your Data Source, click duplicate to create a copy of each Data Source you’ve customized, and name it whatever you’d like.
      3. Repeat this step for your Layout, your Theme, and your Options.
    2. Follow the steps above to import your settings into the new version of soSIMPLE Calendar.
    3. You can then choose your duplicated settings to assign them to your default Calendars.
  • Make sure you’ve also replaced the soSIMPLE php folder on your server.
    • If you’ve made changes to the config.php file, you can keep that file
    • If you have any custom code, it will usually be in one of the override locations.
  • The soSIMPLE Calendar.fmp12 starter file doesn’t need to be replaced. Sometimes we make small changes to this file to showcase a new feature. Please let us know if you need information about specific changes to this file.
